Long Lake Fire Still Out Of Control

September 6th: The Long Lake wildfires complex is currently uncontained, spanning approximately 8468 hectares. Notwithstanding progress made along the perimeter, the fire zone remains inaccessible to the public due to safety risks. High winds anticipated later today may influence fire behaviour.
Nova Scotia's burn ban and fireworks ban remains in effect. Ongoing woods closures impact Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, Hants, Colchester, Cumberland, and Pictou Counties.
Tonight will be unusually warm for September, with forecasted lows between 19-22 C and Humidex values in the upper-20's.
For tomorrow, eastern mainland NS and Cape Breton can expect highs comparable to today's, within the 26-29 C range. Humidex values will be between 29-35C. Meanwhile, southwestern and central NS will experience highs around 20 C, coupled with very high humidity and humidex values approaching 30 C.
Tomorrow night will mark the beginning of much-needed rainfall, with projected totals of 15-30 mm across the province.
